    2. Lady Justice Lobby

The Lady Justice Lobby is more than the entrance of Willamette Law, it’s also an event space and a place where you’ll find law students studying or chatting about the latest case they read. The 12-foot tall Lady Justice statue was formerly located on the roof of the Marion County Courthouse.

    3. JW Long Library

Willamette's J. W. Long Library is designed to provide students with a peaceful, modern environment to study, read and recharge. Law students have round-the-clock access to the library’s three floors and may reserve study carrels and study rooms. The law library is also open to the public on a more limited basis.

Professional Law Librarians provide research instruction in the library and in classes, guiding students and patrons through the more than 300,000 volumes and extensive online resources that include state and federal primary law sources as well as leading books, journals and other sources vital to a full understanding of the law.

    4. Classrooms

There are a range of classrooms at Willamette Law from smaller seminar rooms to large lecture halls. Classrooms are equipped with individual outlets at each seat and comfortable chairs. The law school also has a courtroom classroom where moot court and trial practice classes are held.

    5. Office of Student Affairs, Placement, and Externships

The Office of Student Affairs is a law student’s one-stop shop for support and daily business including registration, turning in assignments, exams, room scheduling, and student organization events.

Adjacent to the Office of Student Affairs is Willamette Law’s Placement Office and Externship Program. The Placement Office provides students with one-on-one career guidance and job-hunting skills. Law students may earn academic credit by working under the supervision of a practicing attorney. These externship experiences can be local, regional, national, or even international.

    6. Rick’s Cafe

In the heart of the law school is Rick’s Cafe, which, in addition to being a small coffee shop, is a student study and lounge space. Rick’s is where law students can grab a quick cup of coffee or a bite to eat in between classes. There is ample seating and comfortable couches for studying.

Behind Rick’s Cafe are lockers and a community space where students can store food brought from home. A few law student organizations have office space adjacent to Rick’s.

    7. Oregon Civic Justice Center

The Oregon Civic Justice Center is home to Willamette Law’s clinical law programs, centers of excellence, and student-led journals. Dedicated in 2008 by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the building was formerly the Salem library and then part of the YWCA. A secret study space known as “the pub” on the third floor is a perennial law student favorite. The building includes classrooms and faculty offices.

    8. Oregon State Capitol

The location of where you go to law school matters.

Directly across the street from campus is the Oregon State Capitol, which houses the Oregon legislature and governor’s office. There are four courts on both sides of the capitol including the Oregon Supreme Court, the Oregon Court of Appeals, the Oregon Tax Court, and the Marion County District Court.

Just beyond the capitol are all of Oregon’s state agencies including the Department of Justice and the Bureau of Labor and Industries. Whether they are chatting with a Justice, being mentored by an attorney at the DOJ, testifying on a bill, or externing for the governor, it is always common to see Willamette Law students at the capitol.

    9. Waller Hall - financial aid, student accounts, President’s Office

Directly across from the State Capitol, the oldest and most iconic building on campus, Waller Hall, is home to the Office of the President (where all students can get cake on the month of their birthday), Financial Aid, the Registrar, and Student Accounts. University Convocation, a campus-wide weekly discussion, is held on the second floor in Cone Chapel.

    10. University Center

The UC, as it’s known on campus, houses The Bistro, Willamette’s student-run coffee shop, and the Willamette Bookstore. Law students have access to all of the services, programs, and events offered on main campus.

    11. Sparks

Law students can access Sparks’ fitness center, enhanced classrooms, multipurpose courts, climbing wall, and indoor swimming pool.

Intramural and club sports are popular and accessible to law students. Personal trainers are available to help law students develop fitness and nutrition plans.

    12. Goudy

Goudy Commons is Willamette’s central dining hall. Catered by Café Bon Appétit, Goudy offers a wide variety of food to students, faculty, staff, and even politicians, lobbyists and judges from the Oregon State Capitol.

      Food options include:

      • Vegan and vegetarian
      • Gluten and dairy free
      • Local and seasonal
      • Sustainable and organic
      • Campus favorites include the wrap station and the giant salads
    13. JD/MBA

Willamette Law is right next door to Willamette’s MBA program. Willamette Law students can earn a joint JD/MBA which saves students a year of tuition and provides them an extra year of earning power.

    14. First Case Statue - End

This concludes your virtual tour. We hope that you’ll soon gather with new colleagues here at the First Case statue to start your legal career at Willamette Law.
