      1. Western Sandcherry (Prunus besseyi)

        Western Sandcherry is a tough, relatively dwarf plant from the upper Great Plains. White flowers grow into purplish black "cherries" which are useful for jelly or preserves, while green-grey leaves turn shades of red or yellow in the fall. Western Sandcherry exhibits superior cold hardiness that endears it to high elevation gardeners.
