      1. Alderleaf Mountain Mahogany (Cercocarpus montanus)

        A shrub of Western North America, Alderleaf Mountain Mahogany is semi-evergreen, very drought tolerant, and may over time become a small multi-trunked tree if not browsed back by wildlife. Inconspicuous flowers lead to long-tailed feathery seeds that glisten in the sunshine of late summer or fall.
