        A formal looking tree, pyramidal hornbeam looks as if it has been sheared. Branches are strongly upswept and covered with clean green foliage in summer. It is useful for privacy screening, narrow planting locations and formal effect. Although columnar in youth it becomes cone or diamond-shaped over time.
