        This relatively new hybrid is the offspring of two different elm species and is bred for resistance to Dutch elm disease. Frontier elm has smaller leaves than American elm that turn reddish purple in the fall. A rather graceful, round-headed tree, it forms bark in fine combinations of gray, green, orange and brown.
