The Departments of Political Science and Law, Jurisprudence, and Social Thought (LJST) occupy Clark House on Route 9. The house was built circa 1868 and was originally the home of Dr. Edward Hitchcock, the 1849 Amherst graduate and professor who for many years chaired the nation's first Department of Physical Education.
