    1. Science and Technology Building Chemistry Lab 

      Get your hands on cutting-edge technology in our new chemistry labs. Whether you’re here for a Carolina Core requirement or as a chemistry major, you’ll work with modern technology and explore the atoms and molecules that make up our world. 

    2. Jones Physical Science Center - Physics Teaching Lab 

      Hands-on experience helps you learn the laws of physics. Teaching labs such as this one let you practice science with your classmates and faculty.

    3. Jones Physical Science Center - Zebrafish Laboratory

      This lab is stocked with zebrafish — and we can learn a lot from our finned friends. Our science labs give you places to practice scientific techniques and conduct real-world research, starting as early as your first year on campus.

    4. Earth and Water Sciences

      The Earth and Water Sciences building is home to the study of our most precious natural resources. In laboratories and other facilities, such as these plant-growth chambers, you will study soil, salt water and fresh water as well as the organisms that depend on them.

    5. Sumwalt College - School of the Earth, Ocean and Environment Teaching Lab

      Teaching labs such as this one let you dive into marine science and environmental science. You’ll conduct research with your professors and classmates to discover the environment.

    6. Longstreet Theatre

      The arena stage in Longstreet Theatre is surrounded by 312 seats, creating a unique experience for the performers and the audience alike. You’ll enjoy beloved classics, contemporary plays and more. If acting is your gig, we look forward to seeing you on stage!

    7. Flinn Hall 

      Welcome to Flinn Hall, your headquarters for student services and experiential learning in the College of Arts and Sciences. As the home of our Office of Undergraduate Studies, Flinn Hall is where you come for advising, career coaching, graduation checks, signatures on study-abroad forms and more services to help with your undergraduate degree.

    8. McKissick Museum 

      The university’s museum gives you a glimpse of Southern history and culture. Paintings, music, quilts, artistic knives, toys and science all have a place in the McKissick Museum’s collections. Come explore with us!

    9. McMaster College - Printmaking Studio

      Do you have a masterpiece in mind? The School of Visual Art and Design is home to numerous art studios, such as this printmaking studio. You can also check out video equipment, shoot videos on a green screen room, edit recordings and more.

    10. 1800 Gervais Street - Institute for Mind and Brain

      Researchers at the Institute for Mind and Brain explore questions about how the brain works and how it gives rise to the conscious human mind. Here, you can take part in research about attention, perception, thinking and other aspects of the mind.

    11. Close Hipp Buildings - Philosophy/Women’s and Gender Studies Lounge 

      Ready to discuss life’s deepest questions? This space is shared by students in the Department of Philosophy and the Women’s and Gender Studies Program. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place for a group study session or to meet with professors, the lounge on the fifth floor of Close-Hipp is for you.

    12. Gambrell Hall Auditorium 

      Gambrell Hall is home to many of our departments and programs, including Anthropology, African American Studies, History, Political Science, Southern Studies and the global-focused Walker Institute. You’ll have quite a few classes in auditoriums such as this one as well as smaller classrooms.

    13. Welsh Humanities Classroom Building - Ted Mimms Foreign Language Learning Center 

      Regardless of your major, you’ll likely come by the Foreign Language Learning Center in the Welsh Humanities Classroom Building. You can access hardware, software and research resources to help you learn a new language and complete your Carolina Core language requirements.

    14. Melton Observatory 

      Come see the stars! Inside Melton Memorial Observatory, you can study the sky while learning to use astronomical technology, like our 16-inch Cassegrain telescope. We hold frequent stargazing nights with telescopes on the lawn or on the observatory roof.

    15. Booker T. Washington - Lab Theatre

      Our black box stage offers a performance laboratory where undergraduate theatre students can explore new ideas and put classroom studies to practical use. If you get involved with the theater, you might perform or direct a show in this intimate setting.

    16. Band/Dance Facility 

      Home to the UofSC Dance Program, the Band/Dance building contains three state-of-the-art studios (totaling 9,300 sq. ft) that feature sprung floors, floor-to-ceiling mirrors and an abundance of natural light, as well as classroom space.

    17. W. Gordon Belser Arboretum 

      Whether you’re studying local wildlife or just getting a breath of fresh air, the W. Gordon Belser Arboretum is located just a few miles from campus in a historic neighborhood. Take a stroll or take a class outdoors.
