      About the Shakespeare Garden
Vassar’s Shakespeare Garden, the second oldest in the U.S., was created by students, professors, and alumnae in 1916. Originally the garden contained only plants mentioned in Shakespeare’s works. Today, the garden also includes plants that were grown in England in the 17th century. The garden has been refurbished to include accessible pathways.
