Catawba’s active learning center, called the ICE Box (Innovate. Collaborate. Engage.) is located in the Corriher-Linn-Black Library. Funded with a $100,000 grant from the federal Institute of Museum of Library Science, the lab is used for hands-on learning (rather than lectures) and is where students are able to imagine, create and see that creation come to life. All furniture – desks, chairs, computers and printer tables – are completely mobile so that students can move about easily and collaborate.

Augmented reality and virtual reality equipment are currently located in this space, but will be housed in the new Digital Maker Space in the near future.
