Suzanne Deal Booth Centennial Pavilion
Constructed in 2012, the year of the university's 100th anniversary, the Booth Centennial Pavilion is the location for artist James Turrell's "Twilight Epiphany" Skyspace. The pyramidal structure of earth, concrete, stone and steel accommodates 120 people, with seating on two levels, and is acoustically engineered to host musical performances by students and faculty of the adjacent Shepherd School of Music. A square aperture in the steel roof invites visitors to experience a framed section of the sky from within the sculpture itself and, at dawn and dusk, an LED light sequence projects Turrell's light composition onto the roof, complementing the natural light present at twilight and transforming the skyspace into a locale for experiencing beauty and reflective interactions.
