Raymond and Susan Brochstein Plaza
Just outside the exterior doors of the Rice Welcome Center is a sunken stone courtyard known as the Brochstein Plaza. Fittingly, for the man who chairs Rice University's Public Art Committee, the plaza named for Raymond Brochstein '54 and his wife Susan contains a subtle art installation of its own, a series of bronze leaves that mingle with the real leaves dropping from surrounding trees each fall.
