Minnesota State University, Mankato's Blakeslee Stadium was constructed in 1963, and was named in honor of Carlyn P. Blakeslee, who served the institution for 37 years (1924-61). A Pennsylvania native, Blakeslee coached football at Mankato, Fort Dodge (Iowa), and Minneapolis Edison High Schools before coming to the then-Mankato State Teachers College
