        History:

The stately Crawford Hall, named for lead benefactors Trustee Emeritus David D. Crawford, Class of 1952 & H’93, and his late wife, Carolyn Crawford, has served as a student residence hall for decades. In 2003, to accommodate a growing student population, it underwent a complete renovation, including raising the roof and adding a fourth floor.

A Norwich legacy student (his father was Class of 1922), David C. Crawford majored in engineering and played football. An executive vice president with Marathon Oil, he served as a University trustee for 16 years. During the Leadership Campaign the Crawford School of Engineering was named in honor of David and his father.

Recently, Crawford Hall housed a mix of cadets and civilians. But with the opening of the new West Hall civilian dorm in August 2014, Crawford has reverted back to an exclusively Corps barracks. The first floor is home to the elegant Milano Ballroom, dedicated in 1989 and funded by a gift from Trustee Emeritus Joe Milano, Jr. and his wife, Jill Kirkpatrick Milano, both Class of 1966.
