    1. Shapiro Field House

Shapiro Field House spans 50,000 square feet and features a 200-meter indoor running track, four tennis courts and a climbing wall. It is home to the Norwich tennis team. The multipurpose building opened in 1987 and is used by all spring athletic teams for early season practices and as a venue for Commencement, concerts, and other university functions. The Norwich Corps of Cadets and ROTC conduct physical training in Shapiro.

History: The building was completed in 1987 and is named after Jacob Shapiro, a 1936 Norwich graduate, who served with distinction as an Army officer during World War II. After retiring as a colonel in 1946, Shapiro became a successful entrepreneur, manufacturer and longstanding member of the Norwich University Board of Trustees.
