Renovated in 1996, Partridge Hall is located in the Engineering, Math and Science Complex and houses the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department. Norwich was the first private university in the U.S. to offer engineering as a separate academic discipline.

History: Begun in 1941, Partridge Hall is named after Norwich University founder, Captain Alden Partridge. Born in 1785 in Norwich, Vt., Partridge attended Dartmouth College and the United States Military Academy. He graduated from West Point in 1806 and held various posts there, including superintendent, until 1817. Two years later, Partridge founded the American Literary, Scientific and Military Academy in his birthplace of Norwich, Vt. The institution later became Norwich University.
