      1. Adirondack House

Adirondack House began its time on Middlebury’s campus as a women’s dormitory with washrooms, a gymnasium, and room for 62 students as the campus expanded to accommodate the increased enrollment of women at Middlebury.

The building was an expansion of a farmhouse, originally known as the Battell Cottage, that sat in the same location. After years of housing various campus departments, Adirondack House recently returned to student housing.

The ground floor has a large lounge and performance space, Coltrane Lounge, and down a well-worn set of concrete steps you’ll find the student-run bike shop, which doubles as the home of the telemark ski club, the Free Heelers, in the winter.
