Middlebury’s social houses give students of all walks of life an opportunity to live together in an inclusive community setting with frequent house gatherings, social events, and group meals. While many members live in these houses, membership can extend across campus to those in other dorms as well.

PALANA (Pan-African, Latino, Asian, and Native American) is an intercultural social house located in Palmer, one of the Ridgeline houses. For many years, PALANA operated as an academic interest house, but increased involvement and enrollment meant the growing community needed more space, and a larger house. As a social house, PALANA fosters a safe environment for an inclusive community invested in diversity and intercultural issues.

PALANA helps build leadership in these areas and hosts regular events and parties open to students across campus and the members who live in the house’s 14 singles and eight doubles. Residents also make use of the large lounge, kitchen, finished basement, and in-building laundry.
