Middlebury’s academic and special interest houses allow sophomores, juniors, and seniors to live in a community of students with a common interest. In these spaces, students work together to pursue their passions, advance their study, and share in discovery. The efforts of these communities resonate across campus.

Brooker is Middlebury’s Outdoor Interest House. It is appropriately tucked away in the woods, surrounded on almost every side by trees, as one of the Ridgeline buildings. Brooker residents regularly explore the local wilderness but also frequently head farther out into Vermont or neighboring states to find their next adventure. The building’s large living room often holds house meetings, Mountain Club events, and get-togethers like poetry readings.

The 30 house members, living across 20 singles and five doubles, regularly make use of the upstairs lounge for homework; the back patio for cooking and hanging out; the basement for parties and trip prepping; and the house fireplace to heat up on a chilly December day. The building also has bike storage, an in-building laundry, and a full kitchen.
