    1. Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell

Fall 2011 marked the inaugural class of the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. The school received about 12,000 applications for the med school, 40 students were chosen to receive this honor.

Hofstra has partnered with Northwell Health in starting and running the School of Medicine. Northwell has a reputation of being one of the most reliable, innovative, and capable hospital systems in the country.

The School of Medicine employs new teaching tactics when it comes to the students.  Instead of lectures and test based on memorization of fact, classes are based on small groups, self-directed learning and problem solving. Instead of lectures students will spend time in groups working on actual cases.

      ABOUT THE BUILDING

The building, which recently underwent a $10 million renovation, is the initial home of the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
