    1. Campus Police/Ag Institute

      Constructed in 1930 on the north side of McFie Hall, the girl’s dormitory, the Agricultural
      Institute was constructed at a cost of $43,703. The original purpose of the southern wing of the
      building was a dining hall. In 1968, the northern part of the building was added on. (HD) In 2003
      the building was remodeled to accommodate the NMSU Parking and Police departments. 

       

      The NMSU Police Department strives to provide an environment free of crime to enhance the educational process at the university.  The members of the Department are committed to the protection of the lives, rights, and property of all citizens; the vigorous apprehension of criminals; the creation of new and innovative programs; and effective dialogue with the members of the public.

    2. Food Science, Learning, and Safety Center

      The Food Science, Security and Safety Center serves as an international hub for food safety and security along the United States-Mexico border. It houses six state-of-the-art laboratories for research in functional foods, nutraceuticals, food processing, dairy science, fermentation, minimizing water usage in food production and other areas. The facility also supports value-added agriculture, one of New Mexico’s nine targeted industries.

    3. Neale Hall

      Neale Hall was built in 1951. At a Board of Regents meeting in 1955, it was moved that the Animal Industries Building be designated as Neale Hall in recognition of the Work of Professor P.E. Neale of the Animal Husbandry Department. This building is currently part of ACES.

    4. Engineering Complex I

      Engineering Complex I houses the Engineering New Mexico Resource Network, the Alliance for Minority Participation, as well as surveying engineering offices, classrooms and laboratories. The building was constructed in 1980.

    5. PSL, Clinton P. Anderson Hall

      Clinton P. Anderson Hall, to the south of Walden Hall, was built in 1965 and dedicated to a beloved New Mexico Senator, Clinton P. Anderson. The building is currently home to the Physical Science Laboratory (PSL). PSL is a unique national resource that supports the development and application of new and existing technologies.

    6. Charles Strickland Central Plant

      This building was constructed in 1966 at a cost of about $775,000. The university felt that they would save $24,000/year by putting in the new plant.

      This building was named in honor of Charles Strickland, who was a Physical Plant director for New Mexico State for 45 years. NMSU generates and maintains its own utilities, and the Central Plant generates electricity for the campus.

    7. O'Donnell Hall

      This building was constructed in 1968 for the College of Education and named for William B. O’Donnell. O’Donnell was a former professor, dean of students, and dean of the College of Education. He was also Vice President of the University from 1959 to 1968.The project was authorized in 1966 and work was completed in 1968. In 1977 the university had to save the building from “sinking”. On Sunday, December 12 1999, the building had a fire on the second floor that burned that floor and covered the rest of the building with soot. The College of Education was able to return to its home in May of 2000.

    8. Satellite Chilled Water Plant

      This facility was designed to further the University's commitment to neutralize its global warming emissions. Located on Stewart Street, just across from the Campus Health Center, this facility houses two large chillers. The 2,500-ton centrifugal duplex chiller cools water to 41 degrees Fahrenheit; water is then pumped to buildings across campus for use in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems to cool the buildings. A second system chills water to 23 degrees Fahrenheit for ice production.

    9. Aquatics Center

      The NMSU Aquatic Center contains a 25-yard indoor pool and an Olympic-size outdoor pool. Both pools are heated and are open all year round. Come swim laps or go off the 1 meter or 3 meter diving boards during our recreation time. In order to swim at the NMSU Aquatic Center, you must be an AggieFit member. Guests can use this facility, but they must pay a fee of $10.00 and be escorted by an AggieFit member. Students and AggieFit members are allowed no more than three guests per day.

    10. Tombaugh Observatory (Center)

      The Tombaugh Observatory was built between 1967 and 1971. They were named for the great astronomer Clyde William Tombaugh.

      The Tombaugh Observatory is equipped with two Celestron 11" CPC1100 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, a 16" Meade Starfinder Dobsonian telescope, various smaller telescopes, and a telescope custom-built by Clyde Tombaugh and operated by the Astronomical Society of Las Cruces.

    11. Fire Station

      The NMSU Department of Fire & Emergency Services (DFES) provides emergency response for the NMSU main campus. DFES also routinely responds to aid other departments in Dona Ana County and the City of Las Cruces. DFES is staffed by four career administrators and fourteen firefighters whom are all full-time students at NMSU. DFES also provides fire prevention and various forms of public education related to emergency services. DFES provides services similar to most other fire departments. We provide fire suppression, emergency medical first-response, hazardous material response, and technical rescue response. In addition, we are on standby for all athletic and special events.

    13. Baseball Field

      Presley Askew Field, named after one of the greatest coaches in Aggie history, is home to the NM State Baseball program. The facility went through numerous upgrades prior to the 2015 and 2016 seasons. A major improvement starting in May 2014 was made with the addition of chairback seating and an expansion of the south stands. Additional 2014 improvements included dugout renovation and expansion, upgrades to clubhouse lighting, sprinkler system repair and fencing upgrades. Prior to the 2016 season, thanks to a 1.4 million dollar donation, the program was able to add infield turf to the facility. In addition, locker room upgrades, team room upgrades and a film room was added before the 2016 campaign. NM State Baseball also made renovations to the bullpen and provided an addition to the press box. In 1 calendar year, over 2 million dollars in upgrades have occurred to Presley Askew Field. All of the upgrades have been privately funded. The field opened in 1981.

    14. Fulton Athletic Center

      The Fulton Athletics Center is a the three-story facility that includes class rooms, computer labs, study rooms, athletic department administration offices, an athletic training and sports medicine complex, four skyboxes overlooking the playing field, and a rooftop terrace and banquet area. The facility is also home to The 3rd Floor Bistro in the Danny Villanueva Victory Club, which operates as a restaurant during the lunch hour and can be reserved throughout the day as a banquet hall for meetings and other desired functions.

    15. Pan American Center

      The Pan American Center, built in 1968 and renovated in 2007, is one of the finest arenas in the American Southwest. Seating 13,140 fans, the Pan Am hosts athletic events, including Aggie basketball and volleyball, as well as some of the top entertainers in America. The renovation and expansion project added an annex building to the south end of the arena that features offices, practice facilities and locker rooms, and a conference room named for former Special Events director and community icon Barbara "Mother" Hubbard. The Pan American Center is located just west of its namesake, the Pan American Highway (Interstate 25), and sits immediately to the north of Aggie Memorial Stadium.

    16. Educational Services Center

      The Educational Services Center was built in 1978. It houses most student service departments including Admissions, the RegistrarFinancial Aid, and the Graduate School.

    17. Spiritual Center

      The Spiritual Center is a non-denominational facility that can accommodate religious services for campus and student groups as well as ceremonial events for the campus and the general public. Located west of the Educational Services Building, adjacent to the duck pond, it is a beautiful location that can be reserved for weddings or memorial services.

    18. Pinon Hall

      Designed to encourage social interaction between residents, this hall features relaxing community-living spaces, a billiards room, and two large, grassy courtyards perfect for outdoor studying or an impromptu volleyball game. Room furniture can be lofted to allow students more flexibility in room design. Each room is designed as a part of a suite where roommates share a bathroom with the residents of the adjoining room. Piñon Hall is ADA compliant and offers many well-designed rooms with an elevator to accommodate students with special needs.
       
      Piñon Hall is located in North Campus with the other traditional halls where students have easy access to Corbett Center Student Union as well as various university departments, making it easier to conduct business or seek additional assistance. All other residence halls are minutes away, so visiting friends or getting together with a group for class projects is a snap! Piñon Hall also houses student athletes from the following sports: baseball, golf, softball, tennis and track & field.

    19. Garcia Residence Hall

      Garcia Hall is a patio-style residence hall that holds approximately 800 students each academic year. Serving as the university's primary first-year facility, Garcia Hall offers plenty of opportunities for new students to connect to the campus. Garcia Hall is home to various living learning communities. Also located in Garcia Hall, La Vista Learning Center is a recently completed 10,000 square foot academic support area featuring two state-of-the-art classrooms, study areas, computer labs, faculty and academic advising spaces, and cyber café. Intentionally built to support the freshman year experience, this space provides a myriad of activities focused on assisting first year students with the college transition.

    20. Juniper Hall

    21. Corbett Center

      Corbett Center, the university's student union, is a bustling center of activity on campus. It is home to the several dining establishments and many student organizations and programs. Corbett Center also offers attractive conference facilities.

    22. Milton Hall

      Originally designed as a new Student Union building, Milton Hall was built in 1947. The Board of Regents decided to dedicate the new building to the veterans of the previous wars, and the name Milton Hall was agreed upon. Milton Hall was the Student Union up until Corbett Center was built in 1968. It is now home to KRWG-TV, KRWG-FM, the Journalism Department, Center for Educational Development, Printing and Duplicating, and other departments.

    23. Health and Social Services Annex

      This building is used by the College of Health and Social Services, the School of Nursing, the School of Social Work, and the Department of Public Health Science.

    24. Hardman and Jacobs Undergraduate Learning Center

      Hardman and Jacobs Undergraduate Learning Center houses classrooms of various sizes that are centrally scheduled and used for many of the university's core curriculum classes and larger classes. Most undergraduates will take at least some courses in the undergraduate learning center during their student careers. The center also houses the Student Success Center, which includes TRiO Student Support Services and TRiO Upward Bound, and Information & Communications Technology, which includes a Help Desk, computer labs, a drop-in computer center, computer rentals and computer offices and workshops.

      This building is a LEED Gold certified building. LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a program that strives to create a more sustainable world.     25. Memorial Tower

      Memorial Tower was built where the Health and Social Services is now, and is in fact partially incorporated into the current building. President Milton requested that a tower be built to commemorate the war dead, and by early 1951, it was completed. Once the Aggie Memorial Stadium, the current location for football events, was completed in 1978, the third, fourth, and fifth floors were abandoned and the bottom two became a snack room and dining area. The Health and Social Services building was completed in 2003.

    26. Dove Hall

      Completed in 1939 as a Works Project Administration (WPA) project, Dove Hall is now home to the New Mexico State University Foundation. The purpose of the Foundation is to secure, manage, and invest private gifts for the benefit of NMSU's teaching, research, extension education and public service programs.

    27. Young Hall

      Young Hall started off as the location of a new library. Built at the top of the Horseshoe' in 1928, books were being moved from Old Hadley Hall into Young Hall. This library was once again moved to Branson Hall in 1952. The building was remodeled in 1953 and taken over by the English Department in 1958. By 1982 it was renovated and the Military Science and Aerospace Department moved in. It is currently still home to the Department of Military Science and the Army ROTC program on campus.

    28. Hadley Hall

      Hadley Hall is home to several administrative units including the President's Office and Human Resources. It was built in 1953 and named after Hiram Hadley, the university's first President.
