    This tour walks you through the different housing options at NMSU.

    Stops

    1. Pinon Hall

      Designed to encourage social interaction between residents, this hall features relaxing community-living spaces, a billiards room, and two large, grassy courtyards perfect for outdoor studying or an impromptu volleyball game. Room furniture can be lofted to allow students more flexibility in room design. Each room is designed as a part of a suite where roommates share a bathroom with the residents of the adjoining room. Piñon Hall is ADA compliant and offers many well-designed rooms with an elevator to accommodate students with special needs.

      Piñon Hall is located in North Campus with the other traditional halls where students have easy access to Corbett Center Student Union as well as various university departments, making it easier to conduct business or seek additional assistance. All other residence halls are minutes away, so visiting friends or getting together with a group for class projects is a snap! Piñon Hall also houses student athletes from the following sports: baseball, golf, softball, tennis and track & field.

    2. Garcia Hall

      Garcia Hall is the only residence hall that is open year round, including Summer Break, Winter Break and accommodates early arrivals and late stays. Adjustable and loftable beds along with modern, moveable, and storage friendly furniture allow each student to arrange their room to maximize space and usability. Garcia Hall offers plenty of opportunities for students to connect to the campus. It is ideal for students seeking a high-energy, active environment where they can jump in, make friends, and get involved. Each room is designed as a part of a suite where roommates share a bathroom with the residents of the adjoining room. Garcia Hall is ADA compliant and offers many well-designed rooms with an elevator to accommodate students with special needs.
       
      Garcia Hall is split into two sections: Garcia West containing patio’s A & B and Garcia East containing patio’s C & D. Each section holds about 400 students and has its own Resident Director and staff dedicated to student support. Garcia Hall is home to various Living Learning Communities.
      • Garcia West houses Agriculture, Consumer & Environmental Science (ACES), Army & Air Force ROTC, Criminal Justice, Honors, and Social Sciences.
      • Garcia East houses Business, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, Natural Sciences/Pre-Medicine, Nursing, Osteopathic Medicine Pathways & Pre-Pharmacy, and Professional Golf Management (PGM)
      • Located in Garcia Hall, La Vista Learning Center is a 10,000 square foot academic support area featuring two state-of-the-art classrooms, study areas, computer labs and faculty/academic advising spaces. Intentionally built to support students’ academic experiences, this space provides a myriad of activities focused on helping students meet their college goals.
      • Garcia Hall also houses student athletes from the following sports: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis and track & field.

    3. Rhodes-Garrett-Hamiel Hall (RGH)

      RGH is a fully-updated building that still has the charm, character and feel of yesteryear. This hall is big on tradition with a style emphasizes its unique atmosphere. RGH features a massive courtyard known for its attractiveness and prominence for social functions. RGH is the only living area on campus where the rooms open onto an inside hallway; a traditional “double-loaded corridor” design. This design encourages resident interaction and makes for a very strong sense of community amongst a diverse group of residents ranging from freshmen to graduate students.

      Students are attracted to the convenience of RGH. With multiple lots to choose from, residents can usually find parking without much hassle. RGH is located across from the NMSU Bookstore and is within a 5-minute walk to Taos Restaurant (the student dining hall), both libraries, Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Cashier, Housing main offices and much more! It even has an assortment of off-campus dining and shopping options just across the street!

      RGH sponsors workshops on developing leadership skills, and other great events such as the annual haunted house in the RGH basement. RGH is home to various Living Learning Communities including Aggie Pathway, Career Quest for Undecided, and Arts & Sciences.

    4. Juniper Hall

      Juniper is designed to encourage social interaction between resident. This area has a large, grassy courtyards perfect for outdoor studying. Room furniture can be lofted to allow students more flexibility in room design. Each room is designed as a part of a suite where roommates share a bathroom with the residents of the adjoining room. Juniper Hall is ADA compliant and offers many well-designed rooms with an elevator to accommodate students with special needs.

    5. Chamisa Village I

      Chamisa Village features apartments for students who have attained sophomore standing or above. This active community combines the conveniences of campus living with the amenities of modern apartments! Early application is a must as Chamisa Village fills quickly!

      Chamisa Village apartments, located on North Campus near Corbett Center Student Union, come in two and four bedroom layouts. Much thought and planning was placed on creating living spaces conducive to accommodating the student lifestyle.  Each roommate has a private bedroom with a loftable, full size bed. The kitchen and living room layouts feature an open floor plan to encourage social interaction.

      Residential furniture in each apartment includes:

      • large couch
      • leather chair and ottoman
      • coffee table
      • multi-functional entertainment center.

      From the large bedrooms with plenty of storage space and multi-use desks to the modern kitchens with energy efficient appliances, our fully furnished apartments are designed to encourage an environment where each student can live, learn and thrive with contemporary conveniences and style. It is important to know that Chamisa is one, cohesive residential living area comprised of Buildings A, B, C, E, F, G & H (Building D is the Chamisa Club House located in the center of Chamisa Village).

    6. Chamisa Village II

      Chamisa Village features apartments for students who have attained sophomore standing or above. This active community combines the conveniences of campus living with the amenities of modern apartments! Early application is a must as Chamisa Village fills quickly!

      Chamisa Village apartments, located on North Campus near Corbett Center Student Union, come in two and four bedroom layouts. Much thought and planning was placed on creating living spaces conducive to accommodating the student lifestyle.  Each roommate has a private bedroom with a loftable, full size bed.       Phase II of Chamisa Village opened in 2012.

      Our premier, architecturally distinctive Chamisa II Village Apartments were designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in human and environmental health standards. This has resulted in achieving LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold status, propelling Chamisa II to be one of the first housing facilities in the state to achieve such a status. From sustainable site development to energy efficient materials selection to indoor environmental quality, this building and all of its components were designed with the environment in mind.

    7. Vista Del Monte

      Vista del Monte apartments are fully furnished two-bedroom, one bathroom apartments with kitchens. Located approximately half a mile from the heart of campus, VDM apartments are walking distance from the library, Activity Center, Natatorium, and many other buildings on campus. 

      Vista del Monte apartments are available for students at the sophomore level and above. VDM is also home to our Graduate Community and International Community, making this area a very diverse and fun place to live. The Aggie Express is only steps away and features a full-service convenience store, laundry facilities, a computer lab and workout room.

    8. Cervantes Village

      Cervantes Village offers one, two, and four bedroom apartments. Built around grassy recreational areas, Cervantes Village offers a wide range of activities from volleyball tournaments and barbecues to educational programs about career planning and social issues. 

      Located approximately half a mile from the heart of campus, Cervantes apartments are walking distance from the DACC campus, libraries, James B. Delamater Activity Center, Aquatic Center, and many other buildings on campus. The Aggie Express is only steps away and features a full-service convenience store, laundry facilities, a computer lab and workout room.
      Cervantes Village for Single Students:

      One, two and four bedroom layouts are available for single students interested in living in Cervantes Village. All units come furnished with bedroom, living room and kitchen furniture.

      Cervantes was recently refurbished in the summer of 2012. Our two and four bedroom apartments received new full-sized beds and dressers in the bedrooms and also received new kitchen and living room furniture. Additionally, living rooms and bedrooms are now carpeted.

      Cervantes Village for Students with Families:

      Four bedroom/two-bathroom, unfurnished units are available for students with families. All kitchens feature a full range stove, oven, full-sized refrigerator, and tiled flooring.

    9. Tom Fort Village

      Tom Fort flourishes with activity as children play in front yards and neighbors barbecue together. These unfurnished, single-family, one story homes are a favorite among our students and feature large fenced-in yards where approved pets are welcome.  

      Tom Fort is available for students with families only. Located approximately half a mile from the heart of campus, these homes are walking distance from the DACC campus, library, James B. Delamater Activity Center, Aquatic Center, and many other buildings on campus. The Aggie Express is only steps away and features a full-service convenience store, laundry facilities, a computer lab and workout room.

    10. Sutherland Village

      Sutherland Village flourishes with activity as children play in front yards and neighbors barbecue together. These unfurnished, single-family, one story homes are a favorite among our students and feature large fenced-in yards where approved pets are welcome.  

      Sutherland Village is available for students with families only. Located approximately half a mile from the heart of campus, these homes are walking distance from the DACC campus, library, James B. Delamater Activity Center, Aquatic Center, and many other buildings on campus.
