    Stops

    1. Activity Center Gymnasium

The UTD Activity Center Main Gym is the home to three of UTD’s most successful intercollegiate athletics programs - the Comets’ men’s and women’s basketball teams as well as the Comets volleyball team. Between them, these programs have won multiple American Southwest Conference championships and hosted several NCAA national tournament events in the Activity Center.

During home games, the 3,200-seat gymnasium is packed with raucous, enthusiastic fans representing a cross-section of the student body, family members and other supporters. A Comets home game is punctuated with state-of-the art sound and music, lighting effects, in-game promotions and performances by the UTD Spirit programs.

The main gym floor was given a modern redesign in 2016, complete with a large Comets logo at center court. A complete remodeling of the facility interior – including installation of a new floor – was completed in summer 2020.

The Activity Center Gym has hosted multiple American Southwest Conference championship events, including American Southwest Conference Volleyball and Basketball Championship Tournaments (men’s and women’s) multiple times, as well as NCAA Division III National Tournament games. In 2010, the Activity Center became the first UTD facility to host an NCAA III event. The men's basketball team clinched a second-round win over Wheaton College (IL) on March 6, 2010, advancing to the Sweet 16 of the national tournament in front of a record-setting home crowd at the Activity Center. Since then, UTD has hosted multiple NCAA events for volleyball as well as both men's and women's basketball events; and crowds at Activity Center events have continued to grow in size and enthusiasm.

The Activity Center Gym is also utilized for non-departmental purposes, including Career Fairs and Commencement.
    2. Athletics Locker Rooms

The athletic locker rooms in the UTD Activity Center have gone through major renovations over the past few years. Most sports now have individual wood lockers complete with dressing area and locked storage.

Both the men’s and women’s basketball locker room were renovated in 2018 with the large women’s locker room getting a facelift in 2019 and the large men’s locker room upgraded in 2020.

New lockers were put in each of the locker rooms for Comets to safely and comfortably prepare for practices and competitions.

    3. Athletic Training Room

Within the UT Dallas Activity Center resides a state-of-the-art sports medicine facility that caters to all 17 Comet varsity athletic programs, in addition to cheer and dance as well as the esports teams. The 520-square-foot Athletic Training Room is located just to the west of the main gym in the Activity Center and accessible via a door on the south side of the building. Renovated and expanded in 2014, this facility also serves as the home of the athletic training staff at UT Dallas.

The Athletic Training Room provides areas for UT Dalla student-athletes to perform at their highest level. Areas for injury evaluation and taping, hydrotherapy and rehabilitation all deliver the resources needed for the Comets to strive.

The injury evaluation area consists of six treatment tables with therapeutic modalities available at all stations, including ultrasound, electric stimulation, laser therapy and intermittent compression. Also provided for UTD student-athletes is cupping, soft tissue mobilization, blood flow restriction, dry needling and corrective exercise.

The hydrotherapy area is its own separate room within the facility and allows for noise and traffic control. A whirlpool, ice machine and storage are all located in this area.

    4. UTD Athletic Performance Center

The crown jewel of UTD's athletic facilities is the Athletics Performance Center, opened in the summer of 2015. The $400,000 facility, which was built inside the Synergy Park North building, serves as home for UTD's strength and conditioning program, as well as facilities that may be used by UTD faculty/staff at designated hours.

The new facility features 5,000 square feet of space with a complete line of Legend Fitness Pin Select weight machines and three double-sided caged lifting platforms, 40 pairs of dumbbells, 6 Legend Fitness Plate Loaded weight machines, 3 Precore treadmills and four recumbent bicycles. There is also a 500-square foot warmup and agility area. UTD student-athletes can use the facility year-round, working with the Strength & Conditioning Coach, to improve fitness, agility, strength, etc.

Working with a full-time staff, UTD student-athletes from all sports are able to use the facility year-round, working on improving strength, agility and endurance.

    5. UTD Soccer Complex

The UTD Soccer Complex is second-to-none in the area with 10 fully-lighted fields, including four fields added in 2011 at the cost of $1.2 million.

The centerpiece of the soccer complex is UTD's Main Soccer Field (Field #1), where both the men's and women's intercollegiate teams play home games in the fall. More recently, the lighting and grandstands for the field were upgraded in 2015 to accommodate increasingly larger crowds.

A new Concessions/Rest Room building was completed in 2019.

Both the men's and women's teams have won American Southwest Conference championships in the last 15 years, and the Soccer Stadium has hosted several ASC Championship events, as well as its first NCAA Division III Tournament games in 2014 and 2015.

Additional seating was added to the Main Soccer Field in 2015 with plans for a stadium seating structure on the east side of the field under consideration.

    6. UTD Tennis Complex

The newest outdoor athletic facility on the UTD campus is the UTD Tennis Complex, located south of the Activity Center. The complex was completed in the fall of 2013, and has 10 fully lighted courts as well as electronic scoreboards for varsity play.

Both UTD men's and women's tennis squads use the facility year round for training. The complex hosts tournaments and match play during the spring seasons. Both the UTD men’s and women’s teams have won multiple American Southwest Conference championships during the last decade, and represented the University in the NCAA National Championship Tournament.

The courts are also available after hours for the use of all UTD students.

    7. UTD Softball Field

The UTD Softball Field was built prior to 2002 when UTD added both baseball and softball to its intercollegiate program. Since that time, the fields have been continuously upgraded with new backstops, fences and dugouts as well as new full-featured scoreboards. The backstop for the softball field was updated in 2016.

The field includes a bullpen area for both home and visiting teams, as well as a batting cage down the right field line.

Despite the fact that the facility was built within an existing four-field, multipurpose quadraplex, the existing lighting was maintained and the team is able to use the outfield lights from the original complex to play fully lit night games.

Future plans may include replacing the lighting and building press boxes and additional facilities at the complex.

The Comets softball team won the 2017 American Southwest Conference championship, advancing to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.

    8. UTD Baseball Field

The UTD Baseball Field was built prior to 2002 when UTD added both baseball and softball to its intercollegiate athletics program. At that time, new turf was brought in to convert a previous intramural field into a top-notch baseball playing surface.

Since that time, the fields have been continuously upgraded with new backstops, fences and dugouts as well as new full-featured scoreboards. Bullpen areas are down each line along with a batting cage.

Additional seating was added to the baseball field prior to the 2015 season and a press box was added during the summer of 2016. The backstop for the softball field was also updated in 2016.

Because the two facilities were built within an existing four-field, multipurpose quadraplex, the existing lighting was maintained. The softball field, which still uses the outfield lights from the original complex, is fully lit for night games. The baseball field, however, had to have its original lights removed as the fence was moved back. Future plans may include installing lighting at the complex.

The UTD Baseball team is a perennial powerhouse in the American Southwest Conference, winning the league title in 2018 and qualifying twice for the national NCAA Championship Tournament.

    9. Sector 7 Esports Gaming Arena

The Sector 7 Energy Esports Gaming Arena is the home to the nationally recognized UT Dallas Esports teams.

Located in the Student Union, the arena was built in 2018 and boasts 24 competition stations and has four 80-inch TVs for match viewing in addition to a coaching area. Each station provides all Comet esports athletes with Alienware Gaming PCs and custom chairs.

UT Dallas is one of the first Texas university to add an esports program in the fall of 2018 and operates until the umbrella of athletics, along with more traditional sports. The Comets began their esports era with just two games, League of Legends and Overwatch. During its inaugural season, the UTD League of Legends team appeared in the first ESPN Top 25 collegiate poll and ended its debut season ranked 20th nationally. UTD’s Overwatch squad advances to the Sweet 16 of its national tournament in 2019.

UTD added Super Smash Bros. to its slate of games in 2019 with the Comets squad claiming the collegiate national title that summer. Since then, the Comets have added Rocket League in the fall of 2019.

    10. GOLF RANCH

Located in North Dallas, The Golf Ranch is the area's premier practice facility. Their all-turf range is lighted and open seven days a week for your convenience. The UT Dallas men's and women's golf teams will use The Golf Ranch as their practice facility starting fall 2020.
