Etheridge Hall is one of our newest residence halls on campus featuring very nice amenities including central heat and air conditioning, student ID (MULaa account) operated laundry, updated common areas with a full kitchen, and shared entertainment options. There is a two-year on-campus living requirement for students who live outside of commuter range (about 50 miles or an hour driving distance). First-year students select their living option by picking a Living Learning Community, allowing them to live around other students that share more in common than just age.

    4. Maple Street Commons

Maple Street Commons is one of the five buffet dining locations on campus; one is on or near every major residence quad. We also have over 25 a la carte options for dining. The meal plan is typically split between swipes for the buffets (which expire if you don’t use them) and declining balance for the a la carte dining (which rolls over from semester to semester). Miami has won 50+ culinary awards over the past few years.

    5. Goggin Ice Center

Goggin Ice Center is home to our “ice” sports such as hockey, figure skating, and broomball. Our Division I men’s hockey team has graduated several players into the NHL, the women’s club hockey team has won multiple national championships, and our synchronized skating team has won 17 national championships including 12 in a row (an NCAA record for all sports). All students can take classes or participate in intramurals in all of these disciplines.

    6. Recreational Sports Center

The Recreational Sports Center (The Rec) is home to incredible areas for student wellness and fitness and is also where you can find our Olympic sized and caliber swimming and diving facility. Free weights, cardio equipment, group classes, basketball courts, and a climbing wall are just some of the amenities readily available for students. This is also where you can enjoy Spinning with the Crawfords, where you can enjoy a spinning class with President and Dr. Crawford.

    7. Central Quad and Sundial

The iconic view of our beautiful campus comes from the sundial overlooking central quad, which is home to many of our sorority suites and housing options. This is also the location of Mega Fair which takes place at the beginning of fall semester offering new students a chance to see and interact with representatives from our 600+ student organizations. For a little extra luck on an exam, rub the turtle heads on the sundial.

    8. Armstrong Student Center

The center of student life on campus, Armstrong Student Center, was designed and is currently run with a ton of student involvement. It is home to the offices for many student resources and organizations including the Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion, The Miami Student (one of the oldest college newspapers in the country), and the First Miami Student Credit Union (one of three student-run college credit unions in the nation). There are also several great a la carte dining options, a 500-seat multipurpose theater, and an incredible family room located on the first floor. The most recent addition to the Armstrong Student Center houses two new dining options (Cafe Lux and Red Zone), the 80-seat Associated Student Government Senate floor, and the brand new Center for Career Exploration and Success. Students are expected to engage with this office from day one, leading to finding a professional path that they enjoy and are set to excel within. We host four times the number of interviews in this space compared to of our peer institutions.

    9. Academic Quad and the Academic Seal

The Great Seal of the University is a historical marker and part of a very well-known campus tradition. Students are not supposed to step on the seal until after graduation or they will face bad luck on their next exam. Within view is the Upham Hall arch also known for a popular campus tradition. Kissing someone under the arch at midnight signifies that you will be with that person forever, maybe becoming a “Miami Merger” — the name for the nearly 16% of alums who are married to one another (one of the largest percentages of any alumni base in the nation).

    10. King Library

King Library is the biggest of four libraries on campus, a popular study spot, and home to some incredible campus resources. The Howe Writing Center offers free help to students with any writing assignment in person or remotely. King Library also houses the Office of Research for Undergraduates, which allows students insight into identifying and becoming part of most research opportunities on campus. The lower level also boasts King Cafe, a great spot for food and coffee during study breaks or a perfect spot for those who like to study around more activity and noise.

    11. North Quad
