    1. Student Services Building

The history of Mount Saint Mary's University Los Angeles begins in 1655 in Le Puy France during a post-war era. As the city struggled with illness and poverty, a group of six Sisters of St. Joseph of Cardondelet sought to make a change. With the support of Father Jean Pierre Medaille, the six Catholic Sisters dedicated themselves every day to addressing the needs of their community. At the end of the day, their most rewarding experiences came from the stories they shared about helping the women in their community. Eventually the Sisters made their way to Los Angeles in the 1890s where their mission to serve the community continued to evolve. Mount Saint Mary's University Los Angeles was founded in 1925 at St. Mary’s Academy located in Inglewood, California. Later on in 1928, the Sisters of St. Joseph purchased 36 acres on the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains that is now home to our Chalon campus. In 1962, the Sisters were gifted the Doheny campus, a beautiful oasis located in downtown Los Angeles as a very generous gift from the wealthy Doheny family who were supporters of the Catholic Church and female empowerment.
