    2. Chestatee Building

The Chestatee Building is the most important stop for any prospective student because it’s the first stop! All Undergraduate Admissions Campus Tours will begin here. In addition to the Undergraduate Admissions office, the Graduate Admissions and Cadet Admissions offices are found in this building also. Each office is staffed with people who are eager to answer any questions you may have about the application process. And once you decide that UNG will be your future home just head downstairs to the Bookstore to stock up on all the blue and gold swag your heart desires.
    3. Rec Center

Do you want to be part of one of the fittest college campuses in the NATION*? Of course you do. Come get your “swole” on at the UNG Rec Center. Whether you like lifting heavy things, climbing 33 ft. high on rock walls, shooting hoops or just catching up on some Netflix at a stationary bike the Rec Center has it all. With group exercise options like Yoga, Zumba and Boot Camp taught by certified instructors you will be able to keep that Freshman 15 at bay. UNG Rec Sports also offers a variety of intramural sports, athletic clubs and houses the Outdoor Pursuits Program which offers free camping gear rental for current students who want to get out and explore the beauty of the surrounding Appalachian Mountains. 4. Hoag Student Center

You know those scenes in the movies of the kids in college hanging out in the student center and it makes you wonder if they EVER go to class? Hoag is like a scene from those movies. With multiple dining options upstairs and an Einstein Bagel Bros. downstairs as well as a computer lab and loads of lounge-style seating options Hoag is a popular (between class) hangout spot. And with a location central to the rest of campus it’s never too far away.

    5. Young Hall

The name “Young Hall” is rather ironic considering it’s the second oldest building on campus. Recently renovated to have state-of-the-art classrooms and presentation equipment, this building houses the history, social science, and political science departments, as well as some of the larger classrooms on campus. Don’t let large classrooms scare you though, the professor to student ratio at UNG is 1:21, so the chances of being on a first-name basis with your professor is much higher here than those larger schools.

      Young Hall audio transcript

    6. The Arches

One of the most popular spots on campus for a photo op., the arches were built by the Class of 1951 to commemorate their classmates who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the Korean War. You’ll notice that we said “Arches” and not just “Arch” that’s because you’ll use the tiny arch during your Freshman year as per a long-standing tradition here in Dahlonega. Once you survive your first year feel free to use the larger arch with all the other Upperclassmen! Since we are 1 of 6 senior military colleges in the country, UNG has a rich history that plays a huge role into several traditions on campus. This is just one of those respected traditions. Freshmen, little arch please!

    7. Price Memorial Building

With a degree from UNG, you are carrying 145 years of tradition and reputation behind your diploma- and those 145 years started right here. This historic building (the oldest on campus at 145 years old) has a real-life golden steeple on top. You will see this iconic steeple as you come down the mountain (or up the mountain) to Dahlonega as this building stands above the rest in town. While Price used to be a U.S. mint (gold was turned into money) it has since been renovated and houses the President’s Office, and the Center for Global Engagement (the people you’ll see if you choose to study abroad) among others.

    8. Hansford Hall

Hansford Hall is recognized by the student and faculty-made mural above the door which highlights UNG and Dahlonega’s histories. This is where you will find the departments of Art and Criminal Justice, along with many faculty offices.

    9. North Georgia Suites

Don’t like the idea of sharing a bathroom with an entire hall of people? Why not share with just 2 or 3 other people. Housing in the Suites is two, two-person rooms connected by a shared bathroom space. Each hall has a common room with couches and a big TV for everyone to share and still gives the hall a sense of community like traditional dorms often have. The Suites are probably most popular for the spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the convenient parking.

    10. Health & Natural Sciences

The Health & Natural Sciences building (HNS) is infamous for the hill leading up to it (affectionately called the HNS hill). HNS is home to some of the more popular majors on campus such as nursing, biology, and the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program. HNS is equipped with state of the art labs, classrooms, a physical therapy clinic, patient simulation labs, a planetarium, and a cadaver lab. If you are interested in a health sciences profession you’re going to basically live in HNS, but the good news is that the view of Price is great and it’s the perfect place to watch a sunset.

If you plan to actually do laundry while you’re here then good news: there are laundry rooms all over the place here! This is also a clutch location: the dining hall, parking deck and half of the academic buildings on campus are only a block away. Come take a tour and get to see the Commons first-hand!

Did you know that less than 5% of the world’s business programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)? UNG is part of that 5%! This means that a business degree from UNG’s Mike Cottrell College of Business is one of the best around, and the heart of the business program is in Newton Oakes Center. This is also home to the Math Department, and almost every student has to take a few math courses no matter what degree they are seeking.
