    Stops

    1. Bert Williams Mall (aka The Quad)

Commonly referred to as The Quad, this area is a central gathering place for students. The Quad is bordered by Memorial, Smith and Reeves Hall—core classroom buildings that are each used by multiple departments.

Students hang out on the steps of Memorial Hall and in the grass of The Quad to get some sun and catch up with friends between classes. The Chapman sign and garden that greets visitors into The Quad is one of the most IG-friendly spots on campus as it provides a great window into life at Chapman.

    2. Music Facilities (College of Performing Arts)

The world-class facilities of the Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music give our aspiring musicians valuable opportunities to hone their talents in front of live audiences and perform and collaborate with faculty and other students.

Music students at Chapman have access to Oliphant and Bertea Halls, both of which house classrooms, rehearsal spaces and recital halls with great acoustics. Those recital halls host performances by students as well as workshops and performances by renowned guest artists.

The Hall-Musco Conservatory also gives students access to world-class musical equipment, such as 62 new Kawai acoustic pianos that are spread out across classrooms, studios and practice rooms.

    3. Theatre Facilities (College of Performing Arts)

Register for a Department of Theatre Tour

The Department of Theatre gives students the opportunity to hone their craft in front of live audiences at the Waltmar and Studio theaters. In addition to live performances, both theaters are used as classroom spaces to give students more opportunities to learn how to take ownership of the stage.

Our Entertainment Technology Center provides our theatre technology and production students with the space and resources to build props and sets and make costumes for professional-grade dance, theatre and music productions.

    4. Guggenheim Gallery (Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences)

The Guggenheim Gallery hosts group and solo exhibitions by students of Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

Many artists dream of hosting their own exhibition. Guggenheim makes that a reality for students from the Department of Art.

In addition to showcasing student work, the gallery hosts a variety of collaborations with Southern California museums, galleries and universities.

    5. Argyros Forum

      Register for a campus tour

This major campus building houses our Student Union, Visitor Center, Office of Admission and Cross-Cultural Center. It’s one of the main hubs for student activity at Chapman, also hosting the Campus Bookstore and multiple places to get food (and caffeine)

Students think of the Student Union as the living room of campus, using it as a place to meet with study groups, hang out with friends, catch a game and take the occasional nap between classes. The Union also has a laptop rental station where you can rent a Mac or PC for free for up to four hours.

Our Cross-Cultural Center actively promotes diversity and inclusion initiatives, providing a safe space where students can meet. The center also offers programs that support students in understanding their own and others’ identities and experiences.

    6. Leatherby Libraries

The Leatherby Libraries features nine individual libraries, ranging from sciences to humanities. The building has plenty of study areas, not to mention a cafe for those late night study sessions.

Leatherby offers a full range of services and resources to students and faculty, including multimedia preview rooms and over 300,000 books and bound volumes. On the lower level of the library you can find Special Collections and Archives, which includes our Huell Howser Archives and Disney Collection.

The library’s top floor is home to the Rodgers Center for Holocaust Education and the Samueli Holocaust Memorial Library. These resources have helped to establish Chapman as a leader in Holocaust education.

    7. Attallah Piazza

Typically buzzing with activity, Attallah Piazza is a central gathering area for campus events, performances and daily interaction (it helps that Starbucks is just a few steps away).

In the center of the Piazza you’ll find the Marion Halfacre Fountain, which showcases Chapman’s Four Pillars of Education: intellectual, physical, social and spiritual. Those pillars symbolize Chapman University’s educational values, so it only makes sense that this fountain would be at the center of our campus.

Student clubs and Greek Life chapters set up tables in the Piazza during events like Winterfest and Spring Sizzle. Whether a big campus event is happening or it’s just a regular day, it’s not hard to see why people describe Atallah Piazza as the heart of our campus.

    8. Beckman Hall (Argyros School of Business and Economics)

Beckman Hall is home to Argyros School of Business and Economics, where students have the chance to work closely with faculty and guests, such as investment bankers, former CEOs and corporate board members, to gain real-world experience and make valuable connections.

Beckman is proud to house the Janes Financial Center, which gives students the chance to work on one of 12 different Bloomberg Terminals and complete their Bloomberg certification. That’s more terminals than any school on the west coast, ensuring that our students gain skills that will help them excel in their professional lives.

    9. Fish Interfaith Center

The Fish Interfaith Center is home to Chapman University’s religious and spiritual community, offering support and inspiration to every student and member of the Chapman family.

Originally linked with the Disciples of Christ, Chapman has since become a church-related school. That means there are no requirements for our faculty or students to sign religious oaths or attend religious ceremonies. We do however offer many different spiritual services and courses if students are interested.

Many of our religious clubs meet in the Fish Center. Students are also encouraged to find their own use for what the center has to offer, such as its prayer and meditation rooms.

    10. Hutton Sports Center

Sitting beside Wilson Field, the Hutton Center is Chapman's main indoor sports center. With a 2,400-seat auditorium, the center is home to Chapman's volleyball and basketball teams, and it offers intramural activities and ample recreation hours.

Also located inside Hutton Sports Center is the Julianne Argyros Fitness Center, which promotes healthy lifestyles by hosting a variety of exercise activities and physical education classes. The facility features state-of-the-art equipment and convenient hours so Chapman students can exercise their muscles as hard as their brains.

    11. Wilson Field

Located within Ernie Chapman Stadium, Wilson Field hosts Chapman’s football, soccer and lacrosse teams, as well as University intramural programs and physical activity classes.

The field is circled by a two-lane, top-of-the-line Mondo track. Our new Keck Science and Engineering building borders Wilson on its eastern edge, highlighting Chapman’s view of intellectual and physical achievement as synergistic pursuits.

    12. Keck Center for Science and Engineering

Register for a Keck Center tour

Home to Schmid College of Science and Technology and the new Fowler School of Engineering, the Keck Center features state-of-the-art research laboratories where students and faculty collaborate on projects such as our Grand Challenges Initiative, which pushes teams of students to tackle our world’s biggest challenges.

The Keck Center is a 140,000 square-foot building with more than 25 research labs and 20 modern teaching labs. The building provides students with the opportunity to use top-notch equipment in their field, whether it’s computer engineering, data sciences, environmental analysis or one of our many other programs.

Erasable walls line the inside of Keck, so it’s common to find students working on equations and coding problems right on the sides of classrooms. It’s one of the few places where writing on the walls is not only allowed, but encouraged, adding to the sense of intellectual excitement students feel inside Keck.

    13. Veteran’s Resource Center

Our Veteran’s Resource Center is committed to serving veteran students and helping them find the resources they need, whether they’re currently enrolled or just considering Chapman as an option.

The staff at the Veteran’s Resource Center, including student workers, are all veterans or military family members. Their first-hand knowledge of the veteran and military dependents college experience ensures that they provide you with valuable assistance and helpful information.

Chapman is proud to offer competitive benefits to veteran and military dependent students, as well as a support system and community that people can rely on.

    14. First Year Residence Life

To build community and encourage collaboration, Chapman guarantees housing and requires incoming first-year students to live on-campus their first two years. Students are assigned housing according to major and are paired with roommates who have similar habits. In other words, we do what we can to keep the night owls and early birds separated.

If you’re a biology student, you’ll be living with other science students; if you’re a film student, you’ll be living with other film students. When surrounded by people with similar interests and goals, students get inspired and develop relationships that stand the test of time. Plus, it helps when you need to study and people around you are taking the same course.

First-year students are assigned to residence halls in the Fenestra Living Communities.

    21. Elliott Alumni House

In 2011, Chapman University acquired and renovated a historic and beautiful home for alumni. Elliott Alumni House was named in honor of Chapman alumni Tom ’60 and Pat ’60 (M.A. '74) Elliott, whose leadership gift helped to make the purchase and renovation possible.

Located at the corner of North Olive Street and West Maple Avenue, the prominent two-story house with the steep-pitch, multi-gable roof is a familiar landmark to the Chapman community. For the 14 years prior to its purchase by Chapman, it served as Victorian Manor Tea Rooms.

The Folk Victorian home was built in 1904 by William J. and Ella Granger, founders of First National Bank of Orange on the Plaza. The house reflects quality craftsmanship throughout. It is adorned with European cherry wood that was imported from England on the sailing ship of Mr. Granger's grandfather. The original window pulleys still work  today as they did at the turn of the century. The window glass is also original. The lighting has transitioned through the centuries from gas to primitive electrical to the standard electrical lighting of today. The stairway is hand-carved with loving detail.

Recognizing the significant contributions of Chapman University to the preservation and sympathetic reuse of this historic building in Old Towne, the Old Towne Preservation Association awarded Elliott Alumni House the Special Merit/Adaptive Re-Use Award at their 17th annual awards program in May 2011.

Elliott Alumni House is an inviting space – rich with history, heritage and legacy – that Chapman alumni can proudly call their own. Alumni are always invited and encouraged to drop by the house for a visit or a tour.

    22. The Hilbert Museum

The Hilbert Museum of California Art at Chapman University is a public museum that welcomes more than 30,000 visitors a year to view its superlative collection, which focuses on 20th- and 21st-century representational art by California artists. Recently named Best Museum in Orange County by OC Weekly, the Hilbert Museum maintains a robust programming schedule throughout the year, presenting music events, films, special tours, and artist and animator lectures.

The museum offers Chapman students many opportunities to become involved.  Chapman classes regularly visit, and the museum offers student internships,  employment and independent study.

The Hilbert Museum will soon be expanding to nearly triple its current size! With construction set to begin in 2021, the museum will grow from 7,500 square feet to more than 22,000.
