    1. Abbey Church

A major component of the monastic complex is the imposing Abbey Church designed to accommodate over 800 monks, students, faculty, and visitors. On 16 July 1966 Archbishop Boland of Newark with Abbot Patrick O’Brien blessed the cornerstone. The altar was consecrated by Abbot Primate of the Benedictine Order, Benno Gut and the Mass of blessing of the church was celebrated by Bishop Casey of Paterson. The ground level of the church houses the kitchen and dining room for the monks and students, and the monastic Chapter and common rooms.
The Anne Estabrook Dining Hall, named in honor of a generous supporter after a major renovation in 2002, serves the culinary needs of students, faculty, and staff throughout the school year. In the summer months, the Dining Hall staff serves meals to sports camp, summer academic course attendees, retreatants, and teachers, the grounds and maintenance employees, and our administrative staff.
