The Gaston Caperton Center is a regional campus facility located at 501 West Main Street in downtown Clarksburg, the county seat of Harrison County. The Center serves as a site for delivery of courses for students enrolled in Fairmont State University. The Center serves approximately 1,100 students each week with a current full-time equivalency of 650 students. Varied course offerings allow students to make progress toward degree completion in several academic areas. The Center also hosts Early-Admission courses (high-school students taking college courses).
The Center is housed in a 36,000-square-foot facility which consists of 15 classrooms--including three computer labs, two science labs, a physical-therapy-assistant lab, general meeting rooms, and the Teaching & Learning Commons. Over one hundred computers are available for instruction and general student use. In addition to courtesy Internet ports, wireless Internet access is available throughout the building. Common areas include two student lounge areas, one faculty lounge, a portico seating area, and an adjacent walled courtyard area with bench and wall seating.
With dedicated full and part-time faculty, modern classroom and instructional-support facilities and easy access, the Gaston Caperton Center continues to be a focal point of higher education in the greater Harrison County area.
