    Stops

    1. Wesley Foundation

Wesley Foundation is a Campus Ministry to the college. This ministry is sponsored by the United Methodist Church and the Presbyterian Church. Housed near the entrance to the campus beside the Alumni Center, the facility is available for meetings, receptions, relaxation, and study. Individuals are encouraged to drop in at any time. Campus groups and organizations are invited to schedule meetings and activities here. Participation in Wesley Foundation programs and the benefits of the Foundation's services are not limited to any particular religious affiliation, but are open to everyone in the college community. A prayer chapel is available on the second floor for persons of any faith.
    2. One-Room Schoolhouse Museum

The One-Room Schoolhouse, a Fairmont State University campus landmark, remains a visible symbol of the University's continued focus on teaching and learning. Located near the Bryant Street Entrance to main campus, the museum is a significant artifact of regional and educational history.
    3. International Circle of Flags

To say that we live in an increasingly global society has become almost a cliché. That doesn't make the statement any less true–a fact that becomes more evident with each passing day. To be successful in the 21st century as an individual, as an institution, as a corporation, or as a country will require a global awareness, a truly multicultural sensitivity, and an appreciation for the strengths that diversity brings to any society. As an institution, we will continue our commitment and support for international education–to continue to internationalize our curriculum, to continue to welcome international students to our campus and to send our native students abroad. Fairmont State currently has collaborative agreements with Japan, Italy, and South Korea. We hope you will choose to come to Fairmont to further your education and to experience and enrich our culture.

-->Our international programs are focused through the efforts of the International Student Advisor, the Director of International Education, and the Faculty Committee on International Education. I know that you will find here, as have I, a deep sense of community—a faculty and staff committed to providing you with a safe, friendly, student-centered campus and high quality academic programs.

    4. Newman Center

We strive to serve the students, faculty, and staff by providing support, fellowship, and activities from a Catholic perspective. We welcome everyone from all religious backgrounds and denominations to come explore what we have to offer. Our goal is to spread the Good News on campus! We hope to empower everyone who walks through our doors to experience their faith in a new way and to be able to share it with others.
    5. Student & Greek Life Organizations

At Fairmont State University we are proud to offer Greek Life - a community or system comprised of select fraternities and sororities. The long-standing terms "fraternity" and "sorority" refer to groups of men and women (respectively) who join together to offer fellowship, academic support, an outlet for philanthropic service to the community and institution, as well as the opportunity to network for future careers.

They are referred to as Greek chapters because they are named according to the ancient Greek alphabet. While some chapters at our institution are considered 'national' because of an affiliation with a national organization, other chapters have their own unique heritage and are deemed 'local' due to the fact that they are local in origin.

Greek Life has a strong and rich tradition at hundreds of colleges and universities across the United States and Canada, as well as here at Fairmont State. The Greek system offers many opportunities to meet and connect with people, contribute to the community, and develop leadership skills. The academic benefits are significant as well - research indicates that students who are affiliated with a club or organization are more likely to achieve academically and to persist.

    6. Falcon Center

The Falcon Center, centrally located on campus, provides an environment where students and employees can comfortably interact with one another while enjoying a variety of fitness and wellness programs, eating areas and study lounges. The campus bookstore, dining services, a food court, game room, and much more is available for both students and employees.
    7. Public Safety

Fairmont State University Police Officers are vested with full law enforcement powers and authority by virtue of West Virginia state law.

Uniformed officers provide 24-hour patrol protection throughout the campus including residence halls, parking lots, and other facilities.

The campus is within the city limits of Fairmont and the Department of Public Safety maintains a close working relationship with City Police.

Officers on duty maintain continuous two-way radio communication with City Police who are quick to respond to our requests for assistance.

    8. Veterans Memorial Plaza

The Student Veterans Organization began the fundraising initiative for the creation of the Veterans Memorial Plaza in honor of the service and sacrifice of our nation's veterans and the contributions of student veterans to the campus community.

The Class of 2016 and Student Government Association took up the cause as a senior project. With the support of the Fairmont State Foundation and a generous matching gift from MVB Bank, the students met their fundraising goal. The Physical Plant installed six flag poles and pavers and assisted with landscaping. Two benches also were purchased for the plaza. The U.S. flag and flags representing the different branches of military service will adorn the new flag poles.

    9. Ruth Ann Musik Library

From the musky smell, to the hair buns, cardigans and complete silence, libraries bring to mind very distinct images and experiences. The staff members of the Ruth Ann Musick Library at Fairmont State University have broken that mold, making the library a place for everyone.
    10. Information Technology Commons

The Information Technology Commons (or just the "Tech Commons" for short) is the division of the Office of Information Technology that deals directly with the campus community.

We are located in room 139 of the Library and offer a variety of services specific to the students of Fairmont State University.

From our Help Desk, we offer telephone, walk-in, and live chat support to assist the campus community. To reach us, just call 367-4810. We also offer some evening and weekend hours. Please see the sidebar for current hours of operation.

The Help Desk staff can help remove malware from your personally owned computers, assist getting your devices (computers as well tablets and smartphones) connected to our network, and offer many other services.

Unfortunately, we do not have the facilities to repair your personal hardware, but we will assist you in diagnosing your problems and provide you with all your options.

    11. Folklife Center

The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center is dedicated to the identification, preservation, and perpetuation of our region's rich cultural heritage, through academic studies, educational programs, festivals and performances, and publications. The WV Folklife Center is part of the College of Liberal Arts.
