    1. Coleman Center

The Coleman building, originally built in 1923, was renovated in 2015 and is now a LEED certified Gold building. Some sustainability features include:

      • Parking Lot - Sections of the Coleman Center parking lot are made of porous asphalt. Water can seep through the pavement to be filtered and collected underground naturally.
      • Recycling - There are well over 100 recycling bins across campus. Above these bins are visually attractive signs, created by Western’s very own graphic design students, outlining which items are recyclable. Each design student created their own unique sign. See if you can find all 16 different pieces of art while exploring campus!
      • Water Bottle Refill Station - Multiple water bottle refill stations are scattered throughout campus. These stations have reduced the use of single use plastic water bottles immensely on campus. In 2017 alone, 160,000 plastic water bottles were diverted from being thrown away or recycled by using these stations. That’s around 3,200 pounds of plastic!
