      1. Newcomb Hall

Newcomb Hall is a distinguished and iconic edifice that stands as a pillar of the uptown campus. Built as the academic and administrative home of Newcomb College during WWI, it has served our community in numerous iterations for over 100 years. Given its numerous changes throughout the year, a full-scale renovation is in order. The vision for the renovation of Newcomb Hall takes James Gamble Rogers’ light-filled original conception, carved up over the intervening century, and reimagines it around the principles of interdisciplinary synergies.

Newcomb Hall was constructed in 1918. It was, and still is, the architectural centerpiece of the Newcomb College campus. It houses the Administrative offices for the School of Liberal Arts, the departments of Gender Studies, Philosophy, Communication, Sociology, and all foreign languages, including a state-of-the-art language laboratory on the fourth floor.
