        First constructed in 1932 in an Elizabethan style with Alabama limestone, the structure today has been updated with eco-friendly features and has received an LEED Gold certification.

         
        It currently houses the Department of Anthropology, as well as the the Middle American Research Institute (MARI) and its museum exhibits of ancient and modern life in Mexico and Central America.
