      1. Tilton Memorial Hall

        Tilton Memorial Hall is home to the AMISTAD Research Center, Economics Department, the Murphy Institute, and the Center for Ethics

        Constructed in 1902, Tilton Memorial Hall is named for Frederick W. Tilton, prominent importer of railroad iron. The original Howard-Tilton Memorial Library, the building merged three existing smaller collections. Tilton Memorial was designed by architects Andry and Bendernagel in the neo-Romanesque style with intricate stone carving and decoration.

        Tilton is also home to two Tiffany windows. The Art & Literature windows were purchased by the Tilton family at the time that the building was erected in honor of the late Tilton.
