      1. Kimmel Pavilion

At the Helen L. and Martin S. Kimmel Pavilion, one of NYU Langone’s inpatient care facilities, NYU has created a healing environment for adults, children, and families that includes integrated technology, thoughtful design, and single-patient rooms. All of the 374 patient rooms are single bedded, which reduces the risk of infection, speeds healing, and provides more privacy for our patients and families.

Kimmel Pavilion is one of the most digitally integrated and sophisticated inpatient facilities in the country, designed to maximize the level of care for each patient.

In our operating rooms, high-definition conferencing screens allow our surgeons to communicate and collaborate with other specialists during complex procedures. Our digital medication drawers ensure the efficient and safe distribution of medicine during your stay.

Kimmel Pavilion was designed to be as open and filled with light as possible. The goal was to bring the outside world in, through our roof terrace and gardens, as a way to improve the wellness of our patients and their families and enhance the quality of their experience.

From views of the East River and the New York City skyline to the carefully curated artwork to the calming outdoor spaces, everything around you is meant to promote healing and comfort.

      2. Hassenfeld Children's Hospital

With two dedicated floors in the Kimmel Pavilion, Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital—34th Street is a 160,000-square-foot “hospital within a hospital. ”Offering 68 private rooms dedicated to pediatric care, the hospital is the first in New York City to open in nearly 15 years that is designed specifically to meet the needs of children. This location features separate entrances, lobbies, elevators, and a pediatric emergency department to accommodate our smallest patients and their families.

Our pediatric specialists provide the most advanced inpatient and outpatient care for children who have rare and complex conditions, as well as more common childhood illnesses. This is where the bulk of fellowship education occurs with inpatient rotations as well as procedures.

Each room features MyWall, a 75-inch electronic display screen with a touch screen tablet at the bedside, giving children and parents easy access to information and entertainment, including a PlayStation loaded with dozens of games. With MyWall, our patients can view their care team, educational materials related to care, and daily goals suggested by the care team to assist in recovery. Patients and families can also use MyWall to order meals, watch TV and movies, use the internet, call or Skype with loved ones or teachers for schoolwork, and adjust room temperature, lighting, and window shades.

The combination of these features is intended to help keep children and families actively engaged in the healing process and make the journey to recovery as easy as possible.

In our Children’s Hall, we host events such as family movie nights, theater and music performances, and yoga and relaxation groups for parents. We have dedicated areas for children of all ages, including a Teen Room, a Multisensory Playroom, an Expressive Arts Room, and the Skyline Studio, our broadcasting hub where children can create their own multimedia productions.

Families have access to many amenities, including laundry facilities, a shower facility, a lactation and massage therapy room, a snack center, and computer work stations in our Family Resource Center.
