        Hillyer College

        At Hillyer College, we see students for who they are: individuals with unique backgrounds, perspectives, and learning styles.

        We’re the opposite of a one-size-fits-all approach to college. With our own Study Center, dedicated faculty, and accessible advisors, your Hillyer experience will be unique to you. Hillyer’s small class sizes — no class has more than 18 students — ensure that you will receive personalized attention.

        From your first day on campus, you will be a part of Hillyer College and one of our other schools through our Dual Admission Program. At Hillyer, you'll get the advantage of pursuing your major with extra support.

        You also have the added advantage of dual admission, which allows you to earn credits toward your major while receiving one-on-one academic support.

     2. Bates House

        Bates House

        Office of Admission

        Bates House, home to the Office of Admission and Student Financial Assistance, was once the house of Mrs. Harriet Sage Gabriel who owned the property on which the University of Hartford campus is now located when it was the last working farm in Hartford. Today, that farmland has blossomed into the 350-acre University of Hartford campus. Bates House houses our Office of Admission and Student Financial Assistance. Thus, this historic house is often the first place on campus visited by prospective students and their families. Our dedicated team of admission and financial aid professionals look forward to welcoming you here on your visits to campus.

     3. Hillyer Hall (H)

        Hillyer Hall

        Hillyer Hall is one of the academic buildings on campus that students have many classes in. It houses the deans offices of the College of Arts and Sciences; the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions; and Hillyer College. Building highlights include Auerbach Auditorium and the Shaw Center, featuring the multipurpose Regents Commons.

     4. Shaw Center

        Hillyer Hall Shaw Center

        The Shaw Center, a two-story, 10,000 square-foot addition to Hillyer Hall, offers faculty offices, state-of-the-art classrooms, as well as a large gathering space for all students. This space, known as Regents Commons, is the centerpiece of the Shaw Center. It provides an informal meeting area for students and faculty and includes computer stations that are available for use by all students on a first-come, first-served basis.

        Inside Hillyer Hall’s Shaw Center, Regents Commons is an informal meeting area that includes computer stations where students can work independently or in groups.

        A quiet study area that includes computers, printing, and peer tutoring.

        Writing Lab

        Students can receive help from Hillyer English faculty members with any stage of the writing process, for any class, from brainstorming a new assignment to editing a final draft.
