Designed by Art + Design alumnus Michael Ulman, AS'00, Green Dog is seated in front of the Behrakis Health Sciences Center. The dog represents Northeastern's commitment to finding new forms of sustainable energy. Ulman's design incorporates such energy-producing elements as wind power (with a propeller), solar power (with panels), and a battery storage unit (hung around the dog's neck). Ulman once commented that the battery unit reminded him of a St. Bernard carrying a whiskey bottle, bringing energy to stranded travelers in cold weather.
