Built in 1797, Person Hall is steeped in history. Originally named for General Thomas Person, an original University trustee and donor of $1,050 "in shining silver dollars" to help complete construction, the building has served various functions throughout the years, from a university chapel to a chemistry lab. Today, Person Hall houses offices for the Department of Music faculty, practice areas for music students, and the Person Recital Hall. With a capacity of 100, the recital hall is ideal for smaller events and is also home to the department’s organ.
