Symbols have been created throughout time by every culture to express ideas intended to unify and better society. The Positive Signs sculpture represents hope and resistance during an exceptionally difficult and challenging time both globally and locally. Individually and as a community, we have faced multiple challenges in 2020. From the COVID-19 pandemic to social and political uprisings and tumultuous change, we have suffered loss and experienced unwanted distance and isolation. From these trials, we have been painfully reminded that as nations, communities, and individuals, we must be more compassionate, empathetic, unbiased, and kind. Positive Signs (2021) will mark a moment in history and symbolize an acknowledgment of our collective flaws, a desire for improvement, and an opportunity to take action together.

The Positive Signs sculpture features a bright yellow, three-dimensional plasma-cut and fabricated steel sculpture set on a light gray steel pedestal. The sculpture measures 40x30x30 inches.
