Founded in 1818 after devastating famines, the University of Hohenheim is not only engaged in intensive basic research but has traditionally also been committed to developing innovative solutions for some of society's pressing problems. Today, the University of Hohenheim is the leading University in agricultural research and food sciences. The green campus of short distances all around the Hohenheim Palace is known as the most beautiful university campus in Germany. The University members value its personal atmosphere and the closeness to colleagues. As the oldest certified family-friendly university, the University of Hohenheim is among the leading universities regarding the issues of gender equality and family-friendliness. One of the central founding ideas of the University of Hohenheim is sustainability, and therefore it is widely represented and lived in research, teaching, and many other projects. CSU IP's programs in Germany are administered by full-time local CSU staff. The program begins with an intensive six-week Intensive Language Program (ILP) in Horb, a small town near Tübingen. The ILP is a German language and culture course focusing on grammar, composition, and conversation, as well as an introduction to German culture. Students then move to Hohenheim to continue their studies and enroll in one German course in addition to other coursework.
