Griffith University was founded in 1971 as a small, single-campus university with only four departments; in the past 50 years, it has expanded to cover five campuses and serve over 50,000 students studying every field imaginable. Internationally focused from the beginning, Griffith was the first university in Australia to offer programs in Asian Studies and Environmental Studies. The university is also home to 22 specialist research facilities in fields as diverse as criminology, education, tourism, nanotechnology, and clean energy.
