035 - Evans Administration Building (Tech Tower)

The oldest building on Georgia Tech’s campus, the Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans Administration Building first opened in October 1888. Named for one of the Institute’s most generous benefactors, this campus landmark currently houses the Office of the Registrar and the administraive offices of the College of Engineering and the College of Sciences.
Alternately known as Tech Tower, it is listed on the National Registrar of Historic Places and is the most recognizable architectural icon on Georgia Tech’s campus. For years simply named the Academic Building, it was one of the first two buildings constructed on the Tech campus. The other, the Shop Building, was destroyed by fire in 1892.
