The new building on the border of campus houses The Vassar Institute for the Liberal Arts, a restaurant called The Salt Line Hudson Valley, and a hotel called The Heartwood at Vassar.
This is part of a complex that also includes Alumnae House, which is a 100-year-old inn that is also available for booking.
The Vassar Institute for the Liberal Arts
The Vassar Institute for the Liberal Arts will convene scholars and thought leaders from Vassar, our local area, and around the globe. Reflecting the Vassar ethos of “going to the source,” the Institute will create a space for meaningful dialogue and lively debate, and will be an incubator for scholarly discoveries.
The Institute will accommodate a wide variety of gatherings, including lectures, classes and training sessions, conferences, and meetings of varying sizes. It will play an important role in fostering dialogue about contemporary challenges, creating a stimulating ecosystem for intellectual pursuit.
The Heartwood at Vassar
With 50 guest rooms and 48,000 square feet, The Heartwood at Vassar is a place where guests from different backgrounds can host conferences, comfortably reflect and relax, or have serendipitous encounters and unexpected exchanges.
The Salt Line Hudson Valley
A new addition to the Hudson Valley restaurant world, The Salt Line Hudson Valley is a farm-to-table restaurant, serving local seasonal dishes with a focus on sustainability. It offers a full bar, called Night Owls, with specialty cocktails and a lively atmosphere.
