Old Doris Hall was designed in 1925 by Francis J. MacDonnell architect.
Built in 1925, Doris Hall initially housed 28 female students and was named after Doris Zemurray Stone, a Radcliffe College graduate and the daughter of Tulane donor Samuel Zemurray. As a cooperative dormitory, it offered students the opportunity to perform tasks like setting tables in exchange for reduced housing fees.
After the construction of New Doris Hall in 1958, Doris Hall ceased to operate as a cooperative dorm but continued to house students until the late 1980s. The building remained in use until it was demolished in the mid-1990s.
