The Tidewater Building, located at 1440 Canal Street houses the Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Started in 1912, the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine was the first school of its kind established in the United States. The School offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs.
Originally built as the corporate office for Tidewater Marine in 1971, the Tidewater Building was designed by Kessels-Diboll-Kessels and stands at a height of 288 feet. The building was donated to the University in 1993. Additionally, it houses a credit union and hosts the antenna and transmitter for WWOZ, a local radio station broadcasting at 90.7 FM.
