           About

From the two students who founded BGreen Consulting in 2011, Kennan Cronen and Ian Wells' 2.5 year student-led project funded by TGIF(The Green Initiative Fund) enabled the installation of twelve rows of solar panels on top of the Ackerman Student Union roof in 2012, which marked this as the first UCLA building to have solar panels. They were placed in the intention of these 2 students wanting to help reduce UCLA's reliance on unsustainable energy sources, like the co-generation plant where Nurit Katz(Sustainability Coordinator at that time) shared how 90% of energy and 70% of electricity on UCLA is sourced. These solar panels will be able to transform sunlight into electricity for the building’s humming electrical system. This project on Ackerman Union contains 132 solar panels, despite that these panels power ~2.5% of the facility, it still is a step towards reducing greenhouse emission on campus.
