This is a 5 Million gallon chilled-water tank that is connected to the cogeneration plant. This tank acts as a form of thermal energy storage (TES) for the cogeneration plant to ensure that any waste heat is being used or stored. This helps save the campus money as California has differential energy pricing with cheap at night and expensive at day; therefore, in this tank the water can chill during the night and pump chilled water to cool things during the day.
