About
With landfill being the last resort for products that cannot be reused or recycled, UCLA health aims to maintain an organized system where Medical waste is categorized according to the hazard such that it can be appropriately treated after it leaves the hospital. UCLA health staff are annually educated on the importance of how to properly sort medical waste to minimize contamination risk through proper disposal. The waste stream bins for landfill, recycling, and compost are marked and have their own colored liner to ensure ease and effectiveness when sorting waste. UCLA Health is contracted with the Municipal Solid Waste hauler, Athens, for landfill, recycling, and compost waste.
