About
Bruin Shelter, Hunger Project, and Swipe Out Hunger created Bruin Dine to address food waste and food insecurity at UCLA. The student organizations began discussing Bruin Dine in Fall Quarter of 2017, and since then have worked with UCLA Dining and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) to safely run the program. Bruin Dine aims to bridge the gap between food waste and food insecurity by recovering food from UCLA’s dining halls and serving it to students in need. In the past, this initiative on campus has also been funded by TGIF. A notable mention was during the winter and spring 2019, where 773 pounds of food were recovered from dining halls and served to students and the UCLA community
