The "Bomb Shelter" aka the Court of Sciences Student Center's roof contains a green roof with drought-tolerant landscaping. The use of a green roof here helps reduce the urban heat island effect as it's provision of shade removes heat from the air and reduces the temperatures of the roof. Additionally, through the outdoor seating there is also permeable concrete that filters and holds rainwater before it enters the storm drains.
