Named after the well-known abolitionist and civil rights activist born here in Ulster County, the Sojourner Truth Library plays a critical role in supporting and advancing the learning environment at New Paltz. The library is currently undergoing a major $14 million renovation which will include new individual workspaces; increased natural light and mountain views; a redesigned late-hours study area; and a refurbished lobby with an expanded café. The library contains more than 500,000 volumes, one million pieces of microform and more than 800 print journals. Students also have online access to tens of thousands of journals, magazines, newspapers, e-books, and online reference tools.
